A Gift of Life Beyond Life

A 20-year-old young man, a resident of Hatiara, New Town, Kolkata, suffered a tragic road traffic accident on 31st May 2026 and was admitted to Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata, under the care of Dr. Debarshi Chatterjee.

Despite the tireless efforts of the medical team, he was declared brain dead on 3rd June 2026 at 6:40 PM.

In the midst of unimaginable grief, his parents displayed extraordinary courage, compassion, and humanity. With the consent of his father and the support of the entire family, the decision was made to donate his organs, transforming a moment of profound loss into a legacy of hope and life.

Through the noble act of organ donation:

- His liver was allocated through ROTTO and successfully transplanted into a 45-year-old man from Haridevpur, South 24 Parganas at Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata.

- One kidney was allocated to SSKM Hospital.

- The second kidney was retrieved by RNT for transplantation.

- His corneas were retrieved by Disha Eye Bank, offering the gift of sight to those in need.

While no words can truly ease the pain of losing a beloved son, his family's selfless decision has given multiple individuals a second chance at life. Their strength during such a difficult time is deeply inspiring and serves as a shining example of humanity at its finest.

Though his life was tragically cut short, his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts and lives of those he has saved.
